ART DECO VANITY CASE, JANESICH PARIS
A rectangular Vanity Case with gold-plated silver mount and 18 karat gold (finger) chain. In the lid a Japanese gold lacquer panel, with an image of Mount Fuji.
The "case" features red enamelled paintwork. The gilded silver frame with engraved signature: Janesich number: 11039. Paris ca. 1925.
Dimensions: L: 8 cm. W: 4.6 cm. H: 1.5 cm. Golden chain L: 9.5 cm.
Leopoldo Janesich opened his first shop in TrĂ¯est in 1835 with jewelery and silverware for an international clientele. Around 1900, his son opened a shop in Paris, on rue de la Paix. Biaritz, London and Monte Carlo soon followed. Janesisch worked for Cartier and was highly praised for his "Powder Boxes and Cases" in the Art Deco style.
